A Fabergé jewelled gold-mounted en plein enamel, rock crystal and nephrite model of a violet, St Petersburg, circa 1900
formed as two stems with three blossoms and numerous leaves, the petals realistically formed and enamelled en plein in delicately shaded matte enamels evoking the fine gradations of the colours of the violet's petals, each set with a diamond, the sepals enamelled transparent green, the leaves carved of nephrite, the stems gilded and finely hatched, resting in a round rock crystal pot, scratched inventory number 11510 on one stem
height 7cm; 2¾in.
Acquired from the London branch of Fabergé by Mrs Ino Ward for £32 in 1908
