signed with initial and indistinctly dated l.r.

oil on artist's board

Board: 18 by 24.5cm, 7 by 9¾in.

Framed: 41.5 by 48cm, 16¼ by 19in.

The present work is included in the numbered archive of the artist's work compiled by Gianni Caffiero and Ivan Samarine.

The following condition report is provided by Hamish Dewar who is an external specialist and not an employee of Sotheby's:

Structural condition

The artist's board has an even profile and is structurally sound and secure. The overall structural condition appears to be very good.

Paint surface

The paint surface has an even varnish layer. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows only the most minimal spots and lines of inpainting, which are predominately around the framing edges and in the corners.

Summary

The painting is therefore in very good and stable condition, with minimal intervention in the past, and no further work is required.
