The dress set comprising a pair of cufflinks and three dress studs composed of Nerite zebra shells, the tip of each highlighted by a collet-set sapphire, signed R. Cipullo, fitted case stamped W. Wright Ltd; 1980s; a pair of cufflinks with textured navette-shaped terminals centring on a cushion-shaped diamond; early 20th century; and a pair of cufflinks, the circular terminals collet-set with a grid of square rubies, partial French assay marks and maker's marks; 1930s.

Renato Cipullo leads a jewellery house based in New York, where his work invokes the rich legacy of his brother, Aldo Cipullo, who is perhaps most well known for designing for Cartier and creating the iconic 'Love' bracelet in the 1970s. Both brothers moved to the United States in the 1960s, but whilst Aldo remained in New York, Renato moved back to Italy, to the island of Ischia, following a six month stint at David Webb. Upon his return to New York, he launched his own collection of jewellery in 1974, with designs drawing on the themes of the sea, nature and antiquity - a romantic nod to his Italian roots and as seen in the present lot, certainly inspired by his years of living by the water.
