Formerly in the Sutherland collection at Lilleshall Hall, Shropshire.

Possibly the picture exhibited by Daniell at the Royal Academy in 1807 (no. 113) and at the British Institution in 1808 (no. 470), both times described as 'Edinburgh Castle'. The picture was presumably conceived during Daniell's tour of England and Scotland, which he undertook in 1803.
