A gentleman's dress set, circa 1885/90
and a group of different sets of buttons
comprising
six coral buttons, each set with a gold serpent with garnet eyes, the matching tie pin with an intertwined serpent around the coral centre, apparently unmarked;
a set of six large buttons and six small counter buttons chased with a couple in ruined landscape, the husband playing the mandoline, framed by scrollwork, Levi & Salaman, Birmingham, 1901, in fitted velvet-lined case;
a set of seven big and six small silver buttons with engraved intial M below a coronet, the reverse struck: Pitt & Co., 31 Maddox St., W.London, in fitted case;
a set of four large and four small domed 9 ct gold buttons with a textured surface, in a case stamped: Hinds Ltd, London;
a set of six gold buttons engraved with a crest above the motto 'Wahrheit und Ehre', struck '10' in circular lozenge, in a fitted case stamped for the court jeweller: R. & W. Sorley, 93 St. Vincent St. Glasgow;
a set of six cloisonné enamel buttons centred with flowers, the reverse marked: E. M Paris, in a fitted case;
a set of six gilt-metal buttons with ivory base, in circular fitted case;
ranging from 1cm., 3/8 in. diameter to 2.5cm., 1 in diameter
