Dirk Verrijk's graphic oeuvre largely consists of topographical views that he recorded during his travels.  He, like many Dutch artists, continuously sketched the landscapes and towns he encountered.  He worked in Mechelen and travelled to Brussels and Paris as well as all parts of Holland.  His drawings were sought after during his lifetime and many are now in public and private collections.   Whilst a large majority of his views are monochromatic he also used watercolour, as seen here in this picturesque village scene.  See also lots 106, 107, 110 and 111, for other views by Verrijk.
