bears old attribution in pen and brown ink, lower centre: Calot

This descriptive drawing, depicting three peasant woman in varying stances, is stylistically similar to Andries Both's drawing of Two characters from popular theatre: 'Nijkodemus' and 'Muyselaer the piper' offered in these Rooms in December 2020.1 In both drawings the figures are placed close to the picture plane and are set against an empty background.
