In many of Schütz's accomplished, carefully composed mountain and Rhineland landscapes, we see very clearly the influence of his illustrious Dutch predecessor Herman Saftleven (see lots 41 and 42), but this drawing is one of those in which Schütz's own artistic personality is more clearly apparent.
