Anonymous sale, London, Sotheby's, 4 July 1990, lot 192, where acquired for the Wieg collection.
Born in Brussels, Van den Bundel mostly lived between Delft and Amsterdam. He was possibly a pupil of Gillis van Coninxloo (1544-1607), with whose work his landscapes bear many similarities. Van den Bundel, who also worked as a dealer, assisted with the sale of Van Coninxloo's estate in 1607 and 1614.
