Grading this albumen print on a scale of 1 to 10 – a 10 being a print with deep brown dark tones and cream-toned highlights that retains all of its original detail – this print rates a 7. The darkest areas of the print retain a rich chocolate brown tonality but the highlights appear to have yellowed somewhat. The photograph is in generally very good condition. There are scattered scuffs, impressions, and hairline scratches visible upon close examination in raking light, none of which, however, detracts from the overall fine appearance. There is minor wear at the left edge. A deposit of retouching can be seen on the figure's cheek. The mount has been trimmed and only the gilt-ruling at the lower edge remains visible. The mount is worn, soiled, and age-darkened. There are scattered foxmarks and edge and corner wear. There are two tidelines along the lower edge, each approximately 4-inches in length. There are some small tears at the edge of the mount which do not affect the image, two of which have been repaired on the reverse. The reverse is soiled. There are two areas where the aforementioned small tears have been repaired.
