gelatin silver print, dated and annotated 'Chine Histoire' and 'Prise de Changaï par les communistes' in ink and the photographer's Magnum copyright stamp and 'F' stamp on the reverse, 1949

image: 11 ¾ by 7 ⅞ in. (29.8 by 20 cm.)

frame: 20 ¼ by 16 ¼ in. (51.4 by 41.3 cm.)

Please note the color and shades in the online catalogue illustration may vary depending on screen settings. This gelatin silver print is in very good condition. The left and right edges are gently rippled. There is a 2-inch crease near the lower edge and a 1/2-nch crease at the upper edge. There are several creases in the margins, one of which extends about 1/2-inch into the image at the lower right and appears to break the emulsion. There is edge and corner wear. The right margin edge has some areas where the upper paper-ply is separating. The reverse is age-darkened at the edges. The following are written in unidentified hands in pencil: '368/35'; '1949'; 'a'; 'Lol 1048'; 'HCB - CH - 319'; '5791'; and 'Chine: un défilé [...?] remont nanking road (shangai) [...?] l'armée populaire la remonte.' '368/35' and 'B2 / DF' are written in ink.
