The Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy trilogy of films, directed by Peter Jackson, and based on the book trilogy of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien, published in 1954/1955. The three films were shot simultaneously in Jackson's native home New Zealand. These films were an epic undertaking and all are brilliantly shot, with fantastic special effects, dialogue, music, and meaning. All three films received critical and public acclaim and won a total of 17 Oscars.
