This was the third and final film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and was directed by Peter Jackson. It is based on the final of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings books, The Return of the King, published in 1955. The cast includes Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, John Rhys-Davies, Bernard Hill, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Miranda Otto, David Wenham, Karl Urban, John Noble, Andy Serkis, Ian Holm and Sean Bean. The story carries on as Frodo (Elijah Wood), Sam (Sean Astin) and Gollum (Andy Serkis) continue their journey to Mount Doom in Mordor to destroy The Ring. Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) lead the World of Men to battle Sauron's army and to avert their attention away from Frodo, Sam and more importantly, The Ring.
