The film is about Travis Henderson (Harry Dean Stanton) - a wanderer, who reunites with his brother (Dean Stockwell) and his son (Hunter Carson). Travis and his son embark on a journey to find Travis's estranged wife (Nastassja Kinski). This film won the Palme d'Or at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival.
