As Dr. Jaap Bolten has noted, this is the design for the nineteenth in a series of twenty etchings by Bolswert, after landscape drawings by Bloemaert. Bolten dates these to 1605-6, and compares this drawing stylistically with another, dated 1605, in the Lugt Collection.1
