Description
Strauss, Richard
Autograph letter about Salome, signed ("DrRichard Strauss"), 5 September 1904
to the conductor Ernst von Schuch, reporting that he has recently made a complete sketch of his new one-act opera Salome, which renders Oscar Wilde's text almost word-for-word, and is confident he will be in a position to send him the complete full score in the autumn of 1905; Strauss also expresses great delight at the report in the Dresdn[er] Neueste Nachrichten that Schuch had successfully revived Feuersnot, asks Schuch if he will perform the Symphonia domestica and expresses the hope that he can greet him in person when he comes to conduct in Berlin
1 page, 8vo (c.18 x 11.5cm), integral blank, printed stationery of the "Villa de Ahna", printed wrapper ("Autographen Sammlung Louis Koch...Abteilung Musik"), Marquartstein, Upper Bavaria, 5 September 1904
