The current lot by pioneering artist Nandalal Bose depicts the goddess Durga slaying the buffalo demon Mahishasura. This powerful and ancient theme was the subject of a similar line drawing by Nandalal that is now in the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
