A noted figure of the Bengali Renaissance and founder of the Bengal School of Art, Abanindranath Tagore is credited with establishing the earliest brand of 'Indian Modernism'. In the current lot, a group of seated figures listen to a sitar player under the glow of moonlight. Another edition of A Moonlight Music Party is housed in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (Accession number: IS.300-1951).
