Signed Adachi (Adachi Kinjiro)

Meiji period, late 19th century


the tall oviform vase with everted foot and neck, copper mounts, decorated in coloured cloisonné enamels and worked in various thicknesses of copper wire, with a peacock amongst flowers and foliage and an overhanging cherry tree in bloom, signed Adachi (Adachi Kinjiro)

32 cm., 12⅝ in. high

Little is known of Adachi Kinjiro, but he is recorded as having exhibited at the 1893 World's Columbian Exhibition in Chicago where he was awarded bronze prize.
