The canvases are lined and taut on their stretchers. Both images read very well beneath clear varnish, with impasto retained on the moon and barge decorations. No repairs are visible to the naked eye on either canvas. Both have a faint pattern of craquelure that is stable and not distracting. Under UV inspection, both canvases show a few thin lines of retouching in the skies along craquelure and canvas weave lines, but any retouching in the figures and architecture is minimal or nonexistent. These paintings are in beautiful condition and ready to hang. Offered in matching decoratively carved giltwood frames.

The first canvas shows the Grand Canal in front of the Palazzo Cavalli-Franchetti looking toward the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, with the Church of the Santissimo Redentore, the namesake church of the festival, beyond. In the second canvas we see the Grand Canal looking toward the Rialto bridge, illuminated from below with lit barges and crowds spilling across the sidewalks.
