Condition report

The following condition report was kindly provided by Simon Parkes art Conservation, Inc.:

This work has not been recently restored, but it is in excellent condition. The canvas has an English glue lining. The surface is stable, and the canvas is well stretched. It is quite thickly varnished, and the varnish has discolored. While the paint layer does not have a lot of impasto, its original texture would be more evident if cleaned.

No retouches are evident throughout the landscape, animals, and figures, except for a few spots in the dark colors of the horse’s tail on the far left. In the sky, there are retouches to some cracking and slight thinness in the blue in the upper left and upper right, and isolated spots in the grey clouds in the upper center.
