framed: 44 ½ by 25 in.; 113 by 63.5 cm.
Restoration and reconstruction to this panel make an attribution or firm date difficult to establish, but the composition, scale of the figures, and schematic facial expressions are consistent with late fourteenth and early fifteenth-century gold ground painting in Florence. Though the tabernacle frame is a later addition, such a panel would originally have formed part of a small altarpiece for private devotion.
