The cuvette is personally inscribed for the original recipient, Mr John J. McInerney, a prominent member of the Knights of Columbus. The Catholic organization was devoted to the moral, religious, and social welfare of the members of the Church. From 1920-1930 the Knights of Columbus amassed nearly half a million members.


The inscription reads, "Presented to John J. McInerney, Grand Knight of Rochester Council, 178, Knights of Columbus, by members of the Council in appreciation of faithful service, October 13th, 1924."
