Executed in the 1940s.

We are grateful to Karen Reihill for her kind assistance with the cataloguing of the present work.

Board is sound and the work appears in good overall condition. There are some minor frame abrasions along the lower left edge. There are many instances of the board showing through, but these appear to be result of the artist's technique rather than paint losses. Appears to be a fleck of paint loss to the boy's left eye. Surface appears dirty and may benefit from a light clean. Under ultraviolet light there are many areas of fluorescence to the boy, however these appear to relate to areas of the board showing through rather than retouchings. Held in a gilt composite frame. Please email charlie.minter@sothebys.com if you have any questions regarding the present work.
