This November, Sotheby’s will present a Modern British & Irish Art sale week offering four dedicated sale contexts- supported by a global marketing campaign - celebrating the best of Modern British, Scottish and Irish Art. Select highlights of Irish art will be offered in our live auction of Modern British & Irish Art on the 23 November at 2pm, followed by our online sale of Irish Art, which closes on 23 November at 4pm.

The exhibitions and auctions in London will be preceded by an exhibition of the Irish artworks at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin (11–14 November). As the only international auction house to offer this dual approach and supported by an international marketing campaign, our sales will offer consignors and collectors unrivalled contexts in which to sell and source Irish art.

Highlights already consigned include a superb group of works from the Collection of Sir Michael Smurfit, featuring Jack B. Yeats, John Lavery, William Orpen, Roderic O’Conor and Louis le Brocquy. Of the contemporary highlights, Jack Coulter, recently featured in Forbes' ‘30 Under 30 Europe 2021/ Arts & Culture’ will be making his auction debut with Heaven is a Place on Earth.

The sales follow on the back of a buoyant market, in which Sotheby’s digital innovations have established ourselves as worldwide market leaders. In 2020 Sotheby’s sold £5.9 million / €6.8 million of Irish art, with in-depth bidding from 14 countries and a quarter of bidders new to Sotheby's.

We will be closing for consignments in September. If you would like to discuss your artwork, please do not hesitate to contact one of our specialists.
