Liegender weiblicher Akt (Reclining Female Nude)

stamped Grosz (lower right); stamped with the Nachlass stamp on the verso

watercolour and pen and ink on paper

39.9 by 58.9cm., 15¾ by 23¼in.

Framed: 54.6 by 74cm., 21½ by 29⅛in.

Executed in 1939.

The authenticity of this work has been confirmed by Ralph Jentsch.

Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down and hinged to the mount in two places along the upper edge. The sheet is time-stained and there is mount staining along all four edges. There are several artist's pinholes to the edges and corners. The sheet is slightly undulating, predominantly to the edges. There is a small tear to the lower part of the right edge (approx. 1.5cm), not visible when framed and a crease to the lower left corner. There are a few spots of foxing and handling marks in places. This work is in overall good condition.
