Paysage de Neige

Signed Vlaminck (lower left)

Oil on canvas

23 ¾ by 28 ¾ in. (60 by 73 cm)

Framed: 32 by 37 in. (81.3 by 94 cm)

This work is accompanied by an Attestation of Inclusion from the Wildenstein Institute, and it will be included in the forthcoming Maurice de Vlaminck digital database, being prepared under the sponsorship of the Wildenstein Plattner Institute, Inc.

The work is in very good condition. The canvas is unlined. The surface is richly textured and the impasto has been well preserved. Some fine lines of stable craquelure are visible in the areas of thickest impasto, particularly in the whites of the snow and in the rich blue above the horizon at left. Minor frame abrasion is visible to the extreme perimeter. Under UV light: a thick layer of varnish is difficult to read through, though fine strokes of inpainting are visible to the extreme upper right and upper left corners and edges.
