Waldbewohner (Forest Dwellers)

signed E Eimer and dated 06 (lower left); titled on the reverse of the mount

watercolour, gouache and pencil on paper

23 by 30.5cm., 9 by 12in.

Framed: 39 by 46cm., 15⅜ by 18⅛in.

Executed in 1906.

Executed on cream wove paper, adhered to what is most probably the artist's mount along all four edges. The edges of the work are unevenly cut and the sheet is time-stained. There are a few tiny accretions in places and some very minor abrasion with associated pigment loss to parts of the extreme edges. There are some fine lines of craquelure to parts of the thicker black ink in the background of the composition. This work is in overall good condition.
