Personnage assis dans un fauteuil

pencil on paper

33 by 24.8cm., 13 by 9¾in.

Framed: 53 by 42.5cm., 20⅞ by 16¾in.

Drawn in Paris in 1915.

Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down and floating in the over-mount. The left and right edges are deckled; there are remnants of an adjacent sheet beyond the natural folds of the right and upper edges. The sheet is slightly time-stained and there are handling marks in places around the edges, probably from the studio. There is a 1cm-long tear to the upper part of the right edge and a small paper loss towards the centre of the right edge. There are a number of nicks along the upper edge, beyond the natural fold of the sheet, and there is a tiny nick to the left part of the lower edge. This work is in overall good condition.
