La Villa Médicis à Rome

pencil on paper

20.8 by 28cm., 8¼ by 11in.

Framed: 52.5 by 42.5cm., 20¾ by 16¾in.

Drawn in Rome in 1917.

Executed on cream wove paper and not laid down. The sheet is affixed to the mount by adhesive tabs in each corner of the reverse. The left, lower and upper edges of the sheet are deckled. There are light creases to the sheet and a few scattered nicks to the extreme edges of the sheet, and a small tear (approx. 0.5cm in length) to the centre of the lower extreme edge. There are occasional handling marks and there is light staining in places to the edges of the sheet, most noticeably to the edges and to the lower left corner. This work is in overall good condition.
