La rue au Clair de Lune, Villefranche-sur-mer

signed LE SIDANER (lower left)

oil on board

41 by 27.3cm., 16⅛ by 13in.

Framed: 65 by 51cm., 25⅝ by 20⅛in.

Painted in 1926.

The board is sound. Inspection under UV light reveals a milky varnish through which the UV cannot fully penetrate. There are a few very thin lines of retouching, including one (approx. 5cm) to the centre right edge of the work and a few (each approx. 1cm) in the lower right corner. There is minor frame abrasion to the extreme edges with some associated pigment loss to the lower left edge. There is a pinpoint sized loss to the lower right hand corner. This work is in overall good condition.
