Les Constructeurs à l'arbre sur fond jaune

Signed F. Leger. (lower right); signed F. Leger. (on the verso)

Gouache and brush and ink on paper

16 ½ by 24 ¾ in. (41.8 by 62.9 cm)

Framed: 26 by 32 ¼ in. (66 by 81.9 cm)

Executed circa 1949-50.

The work is in very good condition. Executed on cream wove paper. Hinged to a window mount along the upper and lower edges of its verso. The sheet is lightly time-stained. Studio stains around the perimeter of the image, hidden in its current mat. A mat burn running around the composition. Two nailhead sized losses to the white pigments of the figure's arm at lower center. Some light cracking to the thickest white pigments. The colors are vibrant and well-preserved.
