L'allée des vignes à Pontoise

signed C. Pissarro and dated 1872 (lower right)

oil on canvas

32.5 by 41cm., 12¾ by 16⅛in.

Framed: 48 by 56.5cm., 18⅞ by 22¼in.

Painted circa 1872.

The canvas is not lined. Inspection under UV light reveals a few scattered spots and flecks of retouching in places, including a couple to the right half of the sky, one to the foliage near the lower part of the right edge and some intermittent spots to the right edge. There are some fine lines of craquelure in places. There is some wear and associated tiny paint losses to the framing edges of the canvas, not visible when framed. This work is in overall good condition.
