Height: 29.5cm., 11⅝in.

Cast in bronze by the Fratelli Barberis Foundry and published by Il Fauno, Turin in 1971 in an edition of 8 plus 2 artist's proofs.


Andrew Strauss and Timothy Baum of the Man Ray Expertise Committee have confirmed the authenticity of this work and that the edition of this work will be included in the Catalogue of Objects & Sculptures of Man Ray, currently in preparation.

This model comes from a series of 10 bronzes executed in 1971 after a set of drawings that Man Ray executed for Les mains libres, a book of poems by Paul Eluard published in 1937. This self-portrait depicts Man Ray in 1932, aged forty-two.
