The movement is in working condition at the time of cataloguing. All functions are working properly. The movement in addition is two train and winds one way for the movement and one way for the repeating. The repeating is in phase with a nice tone and clarity. The split seconds operated through the crown and the button to the right is operating as it should. The pusher on the left hand side opens the case back. The mother-of-pearl dial is intact. The setting throughout is exceptional craftsmanship. The sapphires and diamonds throughout are intact. The sapphire to the case back is roughly 6 carats. With only very light surface wear to the case, the watch is as exceptional as when it was made. The matching chain is extremely heavy with only light wear throughout the links and the bow.
Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts.

Established in 1874 in the Swiss Jura mountains, watchmaker Georges-Édouard Piaget created a legendary Maison only at the age of 19. Driven by talent and passion, Piaget is now a world class manufacturer well known for their dedication to excellence - and the present unique Piaget pocket watch is a terrific example of such quality. It combines the two of the most astounding merits of the manufacturer, haute joaillerie techniques and complex watchmaking into one magnificent work of art. The dial is amazingly designed with precisely carved mother-of-pearl panels, forming a hexagonal presentation which captivates with its perfect balance. Lavishly set with diamonds and sapphires, the movement side of this timepiece on the other hand is not to be undermined. A pusher at 10 o'clock reveals its sapphire crystal case back, exposing its intricate movement, all hand crafted, assembled, and engraved. It incorporates two of the most prestigious watch complications into one, a minute repeater and a split seconds chronograph, in which the chronograph splits with a crisp and reactive fashion, while the minute repeater chimes with exceptional serenity. The watch is further enhanced with a heavy white gold, diamond and sapphire-set chain and a very heavy white gold and gem-set presentation stand with sapphire crystal base.
Offered in just a fraction of its original retail price of 1.6m USD, the present timepiece is extremely attractive and makes a one of a kind addition to any collection.
