This lot belongs to the Collection Privée Cartier Paris, which was launched in 1998 and inspired by historic Cartier designs, such as the present Tortue. The shape was invented by Cartier in 1912, derived from a traditional tonneau-shape but with shorter lugs and wider middle case. The overall appearance resembled a turtle's shell and was therefore called 'Tortue', the French word for this animal.

Housing a highly complicated perpetual calendar, this watch perfectly combines traditional elegance and craftsmanship. It is offered in attractive condition.
