The present lot testifies to Louis Cartier’s profound sense of timeless elegance in design. First appearing in 1906, original features such as the cabochon crown or the guilloché dial have survived the test of time and have become defining characteristics of the Tonneau throughout its history of production and different re-issues. The present example produced circa 1989 features a 18kt yellow gold case secured by 4 screws and a silvered dial.
