The Rolex Daytona was powered by Valjoux manual winding movements from its inception in 1963 until the introduction of the reference 16520 in 1988. The all-modernized and larger 40mm case would accommodate a modified Zenith El Primero automatic calibre, internally renamed the Rolex caliber 4030.
The present reference 16528 stands as the luxurious variant of the Daytona, boasting both the case and Oyster bracelet in yellow gold. This particular example was sold in 1991 and features a black 'inverted 6' dial with an upside-down 6 to the bottom sub-dial.
