The Rolex 'Stella' dial is Rolex in its most delightful and playful form. Introduced in the 1970’s and in production through the 1980’s, this famously conservative brand started to attract a completely different clientele with the 'Stella' dial. Upholding their incredible standards Rolex employs to all watches, they applied multiple layers of lacquer that combine to form a deep rich color. It is so well finished that the dial can sometimes be confused as a hardstone or porcelain dial due to the mesmerizing reflective qualities.

The 'Stella' was offered in a wide range of colors from blue, pink, green, mint green, black, burgundy, orange, red and the very rarest of all, yellow. These dials were so popular that Rolex have recently re-introduced them in a wide range of colors that are impossible to get on the market today and even more impossible to buy new at Rolex due to their immense popularity.

The present watch has some very interesting attributes that make it exceedingly cool but exceptionally rare at the same time. The reference 18388 is enhanced with brilliant diamonds that captivate its bezel, lugs and dial. Dials fitted with diamond hour markers require Rolex to use special made hands that sit above the hour markers to not interfere with perfect time keeping. While scarce on its own, what is even more important is the unusually rare yellow 'Stella' dial that essentially makes this Day-Date potentially unique in its configuration. These yellow dials have been given the nickname 'Yellow Cab' and in recent years only a handful have ever appeared on the market.
