The Nautilus reference 3710 was introduced in 1998 and marked the first 'Jumbo' version since the legendary 3700 in 1976. The larger size of 40 mm (measured from 10 to 4 o'clock) as opposed to the smaller models produced in between was a step towards a future where larger watch cases would become more popular again. In some ways it paved the way for the new Nautilus collection that was introduced in 2006 for the 30th anniversary of the model.

The 3710 differed from its predecessor by having sweep seconds and an off-centered power reserve indication around 11 and 12 o'clock. It further featured a non-ribbed completely black dial with Roman numerals as opposed to the traditional black-blue ribbed dials. Discontinued already in 2006, it saw a rather short production run and therefore examples are sought-after by collectors.
