Beginning production in 2005, the reference 3712 featured the familiar Jumbo case, but to it added an unusual asymmetric dial layout with an offset moon phase and power reserve indicator. Powering the watch was the 240 base caliber, the first time a micro-rotor movement was ever used in a Nautilus, and it was decorated beautifully. As a result, the watch was remarkably thin. Reference 3712 was discontinued after only 1 year to make room for the very similar 5712 launched in 2006 for the anniversary collection of the Nautilus, making it one of the shortest production runs of any Patek Philippe reference, and coveted by collectors for its extreme scarcity.

Reference 3712 can be told apart from the 5712 by the presence of the 7 o’clock hour marker. If 7 o’clock is indicated by a metal lume plot, then it is a 3712. Within the 3712 there are also 2 series, the first can be identified by the power reserve indicator containing 3 red dots, with the second containing 4. The present watch belongs to the first series of the reference 3712, a historically important, rare and coveted model line of one of most currently important watches by Patek Philippe making this an unmissable opportunity for collectors.

Complete with all original accessories, the watch has been retained in excellent overall condition.
