The manual Rolex Daytona reference 6239 revolutionized the famous Rolex chronograph forever. Bearing a 1.4 million case number from the mid 1960s, the present example belongs to the earliest batch of reference 6239 ever produced. Rolex boldly experimented on the reference 6239 with different dial variations to the text printing. While other reference 6239s has relative smaller "Daytona" script under the "Cosmograph" line, the present example features a larger "Daytona" signature, known to experienced collectors as the "Jumbo" logo. In addition to this, the registers have aged beautifully to a very subtle tropical brown, which is perhaps caused by moisture and heat from daily use. Rolex moved the tachymeter scale, originally printed on the dial, to the bezel giving the dial itself much more space and easier readability. Further to this, the present watch has a stainless steel bezel calibrated to 300 units which is correct to its period. An interesting stamp "ROW" could be found on the mechanical caliber 72B, which indicates that the watch was to be exported to the USA. All in all, the present example is very attractive and extremely well preserved.
