Without a doubt, Cartier has created numerous iconic and timeless wristwatches, the first being the Cartier Santos. In fact, the Santos is the world's first wristwatch, invented in 1904 when Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont confided in his friend, Louis Cartier. You see, flying with a pocket watch was unreliable, dangerous and impractical. Cartier responded with the first gentleman's wristwatch, and the first pilot's watch - The Cartier Santos. The popular square-form watch caught on and became a hit with consumers.

The present lot marks a very rare and exciting occasion for collectors. We are pleased to offer a rather early 18k yellow gold Cartier Santos circa 1930, with a numbered bracelet.
