Launched in 1958 and in production for 10 years, the reference 3417 was only produced in stainless steel across its 2 series. Designed as a tool watch for the likes of surgeons, scientists and electrical engineers, its was Patek’s first ‘Amganetic’ wristwatch and contained not just an anti-magnetic movement but also a secondary soft iron movement cover.
The current watch is the only know Ref 3417 to be double stamped by Tiffany & Co. Originally purchased by a daughter on graduation as a thank you gift to her father, the watch returned to the daughter 35 years later on his passing. She purchased the watch on the recommendation of a Tiffany and Co salesman after hearing that the father was a MAYO clinic surgeon. The watch was sold to the current and only second owner in 2018.
Accompanied by its certificate of original listing the date of manufacture as 1968 and date of sale October 7th 1968, the watch presents in exceptional condition. The case retains all its original proportions and dial is free of blemish or restoration, the Tiffany logo is crisp and the watch retains its original crown and buckle.
