Since launching their eponymous brand in 2004 having met at famed complication maker Renaud & Papi, Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey have been responsible for the design, development, and manufacturing of some of the most complex and innovative watches of the 21st century. Their watches have been awarded multiple awards from the likes of Grand Prix de l’Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix de l’Horlogerie de Genève Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), with groundbreaking complications like their Double Tourbillon 30° (DT30°), the Quadruple Tourbillon à Différentiel, the Tourbillon 24 Secondes Incliné.

One of their most recognizable pieces is the brand's interpretation of the GMT model first launched in 2011. Unique in design and execution, the GMT with its rotating globe, asymmetric case and 25-degree tourbillon making it distinctive to the brand.

Running clockwise around the watch, you find the time dial located at 12 with a small subsidiary running seconds at 2. Next, there is a power reserve indicator followed by the inclined tourbillon presented at 25 degrees rotating at a remarkable rate of one revolution every 24 seconds (ordinarily this would be 60 seconds) allowing for a far superior compensation for gravitational forces. At 7 o’clock, we find the signature three-dimensional rotating globe constructed from titanium with 24hr outer chapter ring to indicate the time in the corresponding location. Finally, at 11, the GMT’s subsidiary 2nd time zone dial with a case-mounted adjustment pusher. The reverse of the watch is equally ingenious, with an additional world time display, with large disk subdivided into 24 separate location names showing their time during daylight saving or solar time.

The GMT has been produced in platinum, rose gold and white gold like the present example. Accompanied by accessories including box and packaging, loupe and polish cloth, and presented in excellent condition, this remarkable watch is a signature of the brands work and a testament to their design, innovations and execution.
