The Tradition of Excellence collection was introduced by Audemars Piguet in 1999. The limited series of timepieces consisted of 8 separate models each made in a series of 20 examples, all cased in platinum and fitted with a one-minute tourbillon regulator. The genesis of the series was a celebration of the craftsmanship of the original founders of Audemars Piguet who were dedicated to the art of high complication watchmaking.

Audemars Piguet considers a ‘Grande Complication, to be the combination of at least 3 high horological complications, and the current watch features three of the highest, a tourbillon, a minute repeater and perpetual calendar. The watch belongs to the 2nd series featuring the celebrated Jules Audemars circular case. The movement, a 38 jeweled caliber 2869 features a minute repeater on two hammers, a perpetual calendar with innovative leap year indication, visible through an aperture showing one to four lines representing the full leap year cycle, and an oversized date indication. The engine turned dial also displays its tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock, and its roman numerals give it a very pleasing look.

The current watch is presented in excellent condition and is accompanied by its full suite of accessories including Audemars Piguet presentation box with outer packaging, Certificate of Origin (undated), and 125th Anniversary Certificate
