Originally this timepiece would have been used as a display watch within a retail showroom. The Observatory Rated high quality movement was fitted with a hack feature to allow the accurate setting of the second hand. In this way, it would have been used as the shop's master timepiece. This followed the long tradition of watch boutiques keeping one highly accurate timepiece for regulating and setting their sales and repairs. Indeed, it was common for passers by to check their watches against a shop's regulator.
