When the model was launched in 1938, the 35 mm diameter was considered very substantial. The two-part case with protective cap was made by Taubert, the premier company producing waterproof cases since the end of the 19th century. Interestingly, Taubert was also the case maker for other important Patek Philippe models such as reference 1463 and 96A.

The current watch cased in 18k yellow gold is from the first series of reference 565’s. featuring the caliber 12 120 with 18 jewels and features a silvered dial with attractive Breguet numerals. The watch is accompanied by its Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on September 9, 1943
