Seat-Leg Table

designed 1986

porto beige limestone

28 3/4 x 56 x 56 in. (73 x 142.2 x 142.2 cm)

Overall in good condition. The table has been sensitively reconditioned by a professional restorer to revitalize the natural quality of the porto beige limestone. The limestone surfaces throughout present with soiling, scattered scratches, scuffing, flaking and areas of discoloration as consistent with outdoor use. One side of the tabletop with an area of scattered white inpainting to the stone. The edges present with occasional chips, cracks and indentations to the limestone, with more significant chips to the inner corner of one leg which do not affect stability of the piece and are not visually distracting when the tabletop is installed. The chipped pieces will be provided to the buyer and may be professionally repaired at the buyer’s discretion. A monumental form exemplary of Scott Burton’s career blurring the distinction between furniture and sculpture. Please note this lot will not be on display during the exhibition but is available for viewing off-site. To make an appointment please contact the 20th Century Design department.
