Pair of Bedside Tables, Model No. PJ-R-09-A

designed circa 1955-1956

teak

one table numbered 14/23 and signed PB MLA PLAT No 36 in white paint

21 x 19 1/2 x 17 1/2 in. (53.5 x 49.5 x 44.5 cm) each

Overall in good condition. The wooden surfaces appear to have been reconditioned at some point in the history of the piece to restore the rich original appearance of the teak. The wood varnish with some occasional areas of discoloration which enhance the depth of the teak selection. The wooden surfaces present with age-appropriate conditions which are common for works from Chandigarh, and include scattered surface scratches throughout, stable hairline cracks, scattered and minute ink stains as well as indentations and abrasions concentrated to the edges and feet of both tables. The teak presents with occasional and faint surface discolorations concentrated to the top of one table. One table presents with incised writing to the tabletop which is not visually distracting.
